Japan loves Skyline sedans (and I do too)! - R34 Matsuri 2024
Enjoy the majesty that is the Nissan Skyline sedan. haha. What's the chassis code - ER34? HCR34? So many variations. Recently, I've gotten intrigued by this model Skyline in particular again. I've never been much for GT-R's but give me a good looking sedan that can drift and I'm about it!

Nostalgic 2 Days 2024: 80's & 90's JDM legends are now classic cars
Просмотров 3,3 тыс.3 месяца назад
Nostalgic 2 Days turnout was impressive. It felt like S30 Fairlady Z's were most common but there was also a good selection of Hakosuka Skylines and Porsches. Not to mention some surprises like Daddy Motor Works' Hayabusa swapped Honda S660 and the Starlet wagon that might be my pick of the show. Yeah I've been thinking the same thing about these replacing 240sx. They are new, nice to daily drive, honestly the HP isn't bad and can be fixed with tuning and forced induction. I've daily driven a 240sx with a stock sr and my new 23 BRZ feels similar in hp if not better. Yeah the turbo in the sr made the car have a surge of power but you can get the same feeling by turbocharging a BRZ/86. At the end of the day the 240sx was a low HP drift car that could be modified however you liked and was practical to daily and saved you tires and tought good form. The 86/BRZ is just the modern day version. Low HP, unlimited mod potential, practical to daily drive, saves you tires, and teaches good form. The 240 had its time in the 90s early 2000s. The 350z filled that hole in the 2010s. Now it's time for the 86/brz to shine.

    Never been a big 34 sedan guy, but you changed my mind with this video. Some of those sedans look amazing, especially liked the ones with the OE style wide body added. That purple one on the matte silver TEs with the 26 swap is so good! But also, I'm here for the Toyota 4-door truck. That thing looked like a giant Kei truck 😂

    • @BRICKHOUSESPL
      @BRICKHOUSESPL 3 месяца назад

      Yeah, the Okubo Factory widebody, bumpers, wing, etc. really makes for a complete GT-R conversion for four doors. Such a cool look. And yeah, it's all about maximizing the limits of the vehicle registration system. Vehicles get really boxy to build them out to the max width and length. That one looked to be a pretty new truck with a more pedestrian look though. Normally they're white or blue and basically work trucks only. No one who wants a "truck" really drives them in that manner...those people just drive imported Silverados, Tundras, Rams, etc.

    So in Japan, it seems like the goal of the mechanics is to actually fix the vehicle and work like a team. In America, it seems like the mechanics are pushed to make profit over actually fixing anything. And I have yet to even see any American mechanics work as a team like this.

      I'm not really sure how it is at other dealerships here. Being a DIY guy I do most stuff myself, but, after spending a lot of time in their lobby buying parts and listening to conversations, I got the impression their income comes from a salary versus a job/bid/upsell system that I've heard is used in America. Like these guys just do the work and get the customer on their way. So maybe less of a competitive atmosphere. They also talk directly to the customer in a lot of cases versus having a service writer (from what I saw). Again this is a smaller family owned dealership so their way of doing things might be more down to earth. I was also the last service work for the year so it was pretty chill. Haha

    On the subject of 7A-GE engines, Toyota never actually made a 7A-GE, but a lot of enthusiasts take the short block from the 1.8L 7A-FE engine and bolt a 4A-GE cylinder head to it to make a 7A-GE which is basically a bigger displacement 4A-GE. OS Giken released a destroker kit for the 7A block that makes it a 1.6L that can reliably rev to 11k rpm. I had a chat with Taka Aono about it at the OS booth at SEMA back in Nov. Super cool engine setup, would love to build one someday.

      You're a wealth of knowledge, DP! That's really cool. I would assume it used to be a budget bigger displacement option, but this one fitted with all Tec Art's internals must be pretty wild. I always associate OS with clutches but that's another good example of how many mechanical bits they actually make. I can't imagine 11k rpm. You have enough rpm to put VTEC on your VTEC. 😂

    Great coverage! Really interesting seeing how much the 70s stuff is worth in Japan right now. FYI, the engine in that MB 190E is made by Cosworth, who were an F1 engine supplier, so that's probably why the person you chatted with mentioned F1. These were also raced in DTM with the Evo1 and Evo2 body style (basically a flared version) but with highly tuned race engines.

      Oh wow, yeah, it was bigger than last year so I can only imagine how much it has changed since 2010! Would have been neat to see!

    This literally is the best documented track day ive seen on youtube. The info bar is gold. The fact you thought of that has brought so many questions to rest cause we all wonder how these cars perform and you displaying the info was hands down amazing touch. Good stuff brother man 💎
